Holmdel 13-Year-Old, Jackson Teen Charged In Pickup Theft: Police
Jackson police charged the teens, who lived in a group home in another county, with receiving stolen property and hindering apprehension.
JACKSON, N.J.— Two juveniles, including a 13-year-old from Holmdel, have been charged with hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property after a pickup stolen from Asbury Park was identified in Jackson by two officers on patrol Tuesday, police said.
Capt. Steve Laskiewicz said Officers Kevin Scheuerman and Michael Collins were checking an undeveloped cul-de-sac off of Clearstream Road at about 11:50 a.m. when they saw a pickup truck at the rear of the area.
The officers saw two boys inside the gray 2007 Ford F150 pickup with a red tailgate and realized the pickup truck matched the vehicle description from an incident reported Monday on North Boston Road. The investigation confirmed the Ford was reported stolen out of Asbury Park, Laskiewicz said.

As the officers attempted to identify the two teens, they discovered the teens had provided false names. The investigation revealed that both subjects had been reported missing from a group home in another county, he said.
Authorities ultimately determined their real identities and the boys were taken into custody, and the pickup truck was impounded, Laskiewicz said.
