Holmdel Best Buy Shoplifter Nabbed, Police Say

HOLMDEL, NJ - A Staten Island man has been charged with shoplifting from the Holmdel Best Buy store on Route 35, authorities said.

On July 8, New York resident Lawrence Browning was charged with shoplifting by Holmdel Police Officer Joseph Disko in connection with the March 27 incident in which Browning shoplifted two MacBook laptops and fled from responding officers, the Holmdel Township Police Department wrote in a statement.

Following the incident, Officer Disko and Det. Eric Hernando proceeded to identify Browning and a warrant was ultimately issued for his arrest. He was arrested in New York and extradited back to New Jersey to face the charges in Holmdel and similar charges in Eatontown.

Browning will be lodged at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of the charges, police said.
