Holmdel Committee Agenda: New Dog Run Rules, Road Work Approval
The five-member committee will discuss these items at its next meeting on April 13, according to municipal documents:

HOLMDEL, NJ - The five-member Holmdel Township Committee is set to discuss the following at its next meeting on April 13, according to municipal documents.
Here are the highlights on the agenda:
- 2021 Distracted Driving Resolution: The township committee is slated to support the state’s 2021 UDrive, UText, U Pay distracted driving campaign by signing a resolution “1 in an effort to raise awareness and decrease driver distraction through a combination of enforcement and education.”
- Hiring Swim Club Employees for the 2021 Season: A resolution to hire seven employees for the Holmdel Swim Club is on the table, with hourly wages ranging from $18.25 to $28. Positions to be filled include six assistant managers and one maintenance manager.
- Approval of Road Opening Permit to NJ Turnpike Authority: The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) applied for a road opening permit for an opening of approximately 260 feet of South Holland Road in order to install storm pipe and manholes. Once the work is complete, South Holland Road will be paved curb to curb over the total area of road affected by the road opening. NJTA has agreed to a posting of a $10,000 bond for the excavation work.
There will also be a public hearing on an ordinance establishing rules and regulations for the off-leash dog area at Bayonet Farm.

Proposed items listed on the ordinance include:
- The facility can only be accessed and used by persons that own or control a dog that is actively using the off-leash dog area at that time.
- All users of the facility must abide by any directions issued by Holmdel Township personnel.
- Children under eight are not permitted within the facility. Children between eight and fourteen years of age must be closely supervised by an adult.
- The following dogs are prohibited from accessing the facility:
- Dogs with a history of dangerous or aggressive behavior.
- Puppies under four months old.
- Dogs over six months old that are not spayed or neutered.
- Dogs without current vaccinations.
- Dogs without proper municipal licenses.
- Any unattended dogs.
- Dogs must wear collars displaying proper municipal licenses at all times. Proned, pinch, choke, spike, and electric training collars are prohibited.
- Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the facility.
- Dog waste must immediately be cleaned up by the dog’s owner.
- Dog food and human food are prohibited from the facility.
- Dogs weighing 30 pounds or less must use the designated small dog area. Dogs weighing over 30 pounds must use the designated large dog area.
- The facility may not be used for any private use or gain, including but not limited to private instructional training or activities, without the express approval of the township.
