Holmdel High School Mourning Sudden Death Of Student

The Holmdel schools superintendent did not release details on the death of the teen, a varsity lacrosse player at Holmdel High.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel community is in mourning Monday, Sept. 18 following the sudden death of a Holmdel High School student over the weekend. The school district announced the teen's death in a letter sent out Sunday to all parents from Holmdel Schools Superintendent Robert McGarry. The student is Jack Dowd, according to McGarry. He was a varsity lacrosse player at Holmdel High;

His father, Sean Dowd, is an English teacher at the high school. Jack is a junior and he was a long-stick midfielder for Holmdel lacrosse last year. He was #9. News 12 New Jersey was the first to report the teen's sudden death.

McGarry did not release details on the teen's death or how he died, and he asked for privacy for the Dowd family at this difficult tine. Grief counselors were available at Holmdel High School on Monday.
