Holmdel Outlines Phase One For New Bike Path

The plan for the new multi-use trail project was outlined at the March 22 Township Committee meeting.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Township Committee, at its March 22 meeting, outlined the first phase of the planned Multi-Use Trail project, also known as the “Bike Path.”

The planned trail will provide a safe space for residents to walk, run, or bike while also lowering the risk of vehicle accidents.

“This bike route will provide connectivity to Township Parks and other trail networks while also allowing for future expansion,” said Township Engineer Ben Matlack.

The trail will connect Holmdel High School to Cross Farm Park via Bell Works and Bayonet Farm, using existing Township properties, municipal roads, and rights-of-way.

A $114,000 grant from the Monmouth County Open Space Grant Fund will help fund the portion of the bike trail that runs through the F&F Nursery property, connecting Holmdel High School to Roberts Road near Wilson Boulevard.

“I want the public to know the hard work that The Holmdel Traffic and Bike Safety Committee put into this project, where we’re at in the process, and that Phase One is moving along. This is a great project and I’m really excited for it to happen,” said Mayor Greg Buontempo.
