Holmdel Police Remove Campaign Signs From Prohibited Areas
The campaign signs were banned along these roads for one simple reason.
HOLMDEL, NJ-- Holmdel Police have removed campaign signs from a number of locations, saying that their placement was not allowed.
The eight locations that had signs removed are all locations that township ordinances explicitly ban political signs of any kind from.
The reasoning for the location-specific ban? Traffic saftey.

All eight locations are traffic islands, and signs that distract drivers or block views of roadways are dangerous. A township official wasn't sure how many signs were removed, but said that signs on the islands would block traffic regardless.
They were removed from the following eight locations:

- Holmdel Rd and Crawfords Corner Road
- Holmdel and Roberts Roads
- Crawfords Corner and Red Hill Roads
- Hillcrest and Bethany Roads
- Everett Road and American Way
- Middletown and Stilwell Roads
- Middletown Road and East Main Street
Anyone who placed a sign at one of these locations and would like it back can pick it up at Police Headquarters.
Political signs are also banned from most township properties, and cannot be put on private land without the owner's permission, according to Holmdel ordinances.
