Holmdel Police Rescue Newborn Fawns From Holmdel Road
Breaking: The fawns had just been born and were lying on the shoulder of Holmdel Road at Crawfords Corner Road.

HOLMDEL, NJ — These two Holmdel police officers rescued two baby fawns Thursday that had just been born and were in a very dangerous spot on Holmdel Road.
Patrolman Dave D'Arcy and Sgt. William Bernard noticed the two fawns on Holmdel Road near Crawfords Corner Road Thursday afternoon while they were in the area on an off-duty traffic detail. The two fawns were found on the shoulder of the road. It was apparent they had just been born, as they were wet, said Lt. Rob Philhower, and police suspect they may have rolled down the large hill that is in that area.
"There is a hill there and they may have been born on top of it and rolled down," he said. "They were very close to the road and could have been hit."
