Holmdel Resident Launches Senior Home Safety Business In Monmouth County
TruBlue of Monmouth County offers home safety assessments, grab bar installations and more to local seniors and their families.

HOLMDEL, NJ — After spending 20 years in healthcare operations, a local resident has launched a senior home safety and maintenance business in Monmouth County.
Andrea Tomba, who currently resides in Holmdel, has spent years in the healthcare industry – specifically, managing Medicare and Medicaid programs.
After departing from her previous job and going through her own health challenges, Tomba looked to re-enter the healthcare market and decided to go into business for herself.

From there, Tomba connected with TruBlue, a business that offers home maintenance, safety modifications and more for seniors and their families across the nation.
Inspired by her own experiences in the healthcare industry and her work with seniors, Tomba decided to launch TruBlue of Monmouth County to help seniors overcome the hesitation they may feel about accepting help.

TruBlue of Monmouth County offers services throughout Red Bank, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Rumson and surrounding shore communities.
“The thing to know is that TruBlue is really good not just for seniors who need things done in their home, but also really good for ‘the sandwich generation,’” Tomba told Patch.
The “sandwich generation” applies to those who are not only caring for their own children, but also for older adults such as parents or grandparents.
When an adult caretaker is tasked with taking care of both their own children and older adults, it can be challenging to keep care for both groups consistent.
That’s where TruBlue of Monmouth County would come in, Tomba said.
“If your parents or grandparents don’t live with you but need care, it can be challenging to get from your house to their house,” she said. “But with TruBlue, you can use a subscription service to have our tech visit their home on a bi-weekly, quarterly, or even seasonal basis.”
When TruBlue comes to a home, they offer a variety of handyman services ranging from preventative home maintenance programs to seasonal work and senior modification services.
Additionally, seniors can schedule a home safety assessment, which is designed to evaluate the safety of a home, identify potential hazards and recommend tailored modifications to promote a safe and independent lifestyle.
“Our techs are trained to do these assessments, and through them, we can give peace of mind to seniors and their families,” Tomba said.
Not only are techs trained to perform these services, but so long as staffing remains consistent over time, Tomba said clients with a subscription service will receive the same tech each time TruBlue comes to their home.
“The goal is to make sure you always have that same person in the home, so that seniors can build trust and know that ‘yes, this is my person, I trust them, I know them, they can come in,’” Tomba said. “We want clients to trust their techs and know that they’re going to come in, help them and exit professionally.”
