The Holmdel school superintendent has announced that she will not seek renewal of her contract when it expires next year.
Barbara Duncan made the announcement at a recent Board of Education meeting.
She said she has made the decision to leave the Holmdel Township Public Schools when her contract expires on June 30, 2016.
Three members of the Board of Education, Chiung-Yin Cheng Liu, Robin Wetmore, and Mike Sockol, spoke about how much they would miss Duncan when she leaves.
“I was disappointed to hear that the superintendent has decided not to seek a contract renewal. She was a strong educational leader and she will be missed. The state mandated superintendent cap is going to make it a very competitive environment to find a good superintendents, so as a community it is essential for us to project an open environment of cooperation and collaboration to attract the right candidate to lead our district forward.” said Sockol.
Mary Lou Moramarco and Karen Strickland, two women attending the meeting were very outspoken about Duncan’s decision.
