Holmdel Theatre Company To Stage 'Spring Awakening'

The company's production of the Tony Award-winning musical will run weekends from July 31 through Aug. 16.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Theatre Company will put on its production of the Tony Award-winning musical "Spring Awakening" this summer.

Set to run weekends from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, Aug. 16, the show will be directed by Tina Barone, with music directed by Christynn Cardino and co-produced by Laurie Devino and Kristin Fodera.

Based on the play by Frank Wedekind, "Spring Awakening" follows a group of teenagers as they navigate the emotional and physical realities of growing up in a society where curiosity is met with silence and repression.

Through an electrifying contemporary score and deeply human storytelling, the musical explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, first love, mental health, and the harsh realities of withholding truth.

Director Tina Barone is delighted to bring this story to Monmouth County audiences.

Following its successful run Off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theater Company, "Spring Awakening" has gone on to receive critical acclaim.

The musical transferred to Broadway in 2006 and went on to win eight Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical (Steven Sater), Best Original Score (Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik), and the highly coveted Best Musical award.

The Holmdel Theatre Company production features Simon Thorton as Melchior, Maria Guerrero as Wendla, and Christian Confalone as Moritz. The company includes Rosie Gaeta (Ilse), Jazmynn Perez (Martha), Jake Filangeri (Hanschen), Bryan Reimertz (Ernst), Lucas Rizzuto-Canero (Georg), Steven Belloise (Otto), Colleen Gilgan (Anna), Kylie Mulvihill (Thea), Brian Craig (Adult Man) and Katy Widmer (Adult Woman).

Tickets for Spring Awakening are now available here ($25 for students, $25 for seniors and $30 for adults)
