Holmdel Troop 131 Canoes the Delaware Water Gap

Holmdel Boy Scouts river canoeing

Boy Scouts from Holmdel’s Troop 131 boldly went where others have gone before with their late August canoeing trip down the Delaware River. For some of the scouts it was their first time piloting their own canoes, and others were experienced canoers. But all had a blast coming down the rapids and taking breaks soaking each other with their water guns. The boys camped overnight and prepared their own meals, using the skills they've learned in earning their scouting awards. The scenery was spectacular, and the Delaware Water Gap trip closed out a great summer of camping and outdoor adventures for the boys, who are looking forward to the upcoming scout year. Troop 131 meets 7:30pm on Tuesdays in the Indian Hill School Cafetorium (735 Holmdel Rd.), and all boys age 11 to 17 are welcome to join. Upcoming open meetings for new members are 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, and 10/18, and fall events include our Chesapeake Bay biking-canoeing-camping, hiking-camping in the Catskills, local cleanup projects, and more. Come out and join us as we assist our community and grow future leaders.
