Keansburg Man Attacked By Robbery Victim

He tried to rob someone in Jersey City, but this victim knew martial arts.

Jersey City, NJ - A Keansburg man who tried to rob someone on a Jersey City street was thwarted after his would-be victim defended himself using martial arts, according to a report in the Jersey Journal.

William Hicks, 42, of Keansburg, tried to rob the victim in Jersey City using a butcher’s knife, according to the report. However, ”the victim was able to best the defendant because of his martial arts training,” the prosecutor said Tuesday when Hicks appeared in Hudson County court.

This is hardly the Keansburg man’s first run-in with the law: Hicks has 38 prior arrests in New Jersey, including criminal convictions for theft and robbery, according to the Jersey Journal.
