Kitten Rescued From Sewer In Hazlet: See Details

HAZLET, NJ — Local authorities recently came to the rescue of a small kitten who was stuck in a sewer on Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon, Hazlet Police said a worried caller contacted them after hearing "distressed meowing" coming from a sewer in Bethany Commons.

Once officers arrived on the scene, they found a small kitten stuck down in the sewer.

By using the tools they had to open a grate, Officer Birdsall climbed down into the sewer to try and save the kitten.

Animal Control then arrived to help, offering kitten food to lure it out of the sewer pipe it was hiding inside.

After some patience, Officer Birdsall was able to grab the kitten and place it in the custody of Animal Control.

"After the kitten is evaluated by a veterinarian at the shelter and cleared for adoption, the calling party's grandson is looking forward to applying for adoption of the kitten and welcoming it into his home!" Hazlet Police said.
