Kohl's to Close 18 Stores Nationwide

Middletown, NJ - Reporting only a 1% increase in 2015 total sales in its fourth-quarter earning statement, Kohl’s department stores made the announcement Thursday they will be closing 18 stores nationwide this year.

It’s unknown yet if either of the two Rt. 35 locations — one Kohl’s in Holmdel, and the other less than 5 miles away in Middletown — will be affected. The company will announce locations that will be shuttered by the end of March. There are 38 Kohl’s stores in New Jersey.

As part of the changes, Kohl’s will be piloting a new, smaller-format store, opening 7 of those in various, as-of-yet undisclosed regions around the country.
