HAZLET, NJ — The double track at the Beer Street Crossing will be replaced by New Jersey Transit, causing Beer Street to be closed for construction from June 23 to June 30, according to Hazlet Township Police.

Beer Street will close at 10 a.m. on June 23 and reopen at 7 a.m. on June 30. Weekday work will be done between 9 a.m. and 4 a.m., and weekend work will be done between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. If the weather permits, the paving day will take place on June 29 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“There will be detours with ample signage posted. You will not be able to cross over the tracks, even if you live 'right there'. Please follow the posted detour to reach your destination,” police said.

Hazlet Police will be providing a detour map as the construction date approaches.

“We are giving advanced and multiple notice of this closure due to Beers Street being a heavily traveled roadway and a main road to the hospital,” police said.
