Monmouth County Man Sentenced to 30 Years For Murdering His Wife

Patrick Allen, 47, was sentenced today to 30 years in prison for the murder of his wife.

A Middletown man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his wife.

Patrick Allen, 47, was convicted in December of the 2011 fatal attack.

Prosecutors say he killed his 44-year-old wife, Kimberly, by strangling her and hitting her with a frying pan.

Allen was also convicted of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, tampering with evidence and hindering apprehension.

Today, a state Superior Court judge in Monmouth County ordered Allen to serve 30 years in prison, according to a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities believe the murder occurred after Kimberly Allen discovered the couple was more than $600,000 in debt.

Patrick Allen was convicted after a 10-week trial and two days of deliberations, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutors Maria Franceschini and Mary Juliano handled the state’s case.
