Cops: 4-Year-Old Crashed Car in Monmouth County, Father Charged
Ocean Township police say dad left kids in running car, 4-year-old put vehicle in reverse, and it hit a brick wall. No injuries reported.

Police say a 4-year-old boy climbed into the driver’s seat of a running car and put the vehicle into reverse, sending it across a parking lot and into a brick staircase.
The boy and his little sister had been left alone in the running vehicle by their father, Ocean Township police said.
No one was injured.

The dad, Tavaris S. Reevey, 41, of Ocean Township, was arrested Monday morning and charged with child endangerment after an investigation by Officer Alisa Martinez and Detective Michael Melody.

Around 10:30 a.m. Monday, police were called to Rustic Drive because a car hit a building.
They determined that Reevey left his 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter in the running car.
The little boy climbed into the into the driver’s seat and put the car into reverse. It backed across the parking lot, then hit a brick stairway wall.
When police took Reevey into custody, they realized there was an outstanding Asbury Park contempt of court warrant for his arrest.
He was released on his own recognizance on the Ocean Township charges and on $250 bail on the Asbury Park municipal court warrant.
The two children were turned over to their mother. Police said they also notified the state Department of Child Protection and Permanency.
