Defendants from Middletown, Hazlet, Keansburg and Marlboro are among those facing charges, police said.

Police recently investigated cases of drug possession, driving while intoxicated and burglary, authorities said.
They also investigated an accidental fire that sent one man to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, and killed three family pets.

Alexander Green, 20, from Wesley Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, was arrested on June 18 by Middletown Detective William Strohkirch on charges of burglary, theft and conspiracy. He was held on $22,500 bail.
Michael Ryan, 51, from Main Street in Keansburg, was arrested on June 19 by Middletown Patrolman Greg Buhowski on charges of driving while intoxicated and obstructing the administration of law. He was released pending a court date.

Middletown Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia took a 14-year-old girl from Keansburg, into custody on June 19 a charge of simple assault. She was released pending a court date.
Nicole Passenant, 21, from Kildare Drive in Hazlet, was arrested on June 22 by Middletown Patrolman Frank Mazza on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was released pending a court date.
Terrance Moriarty, 41, from Malibu Drive in Eatontown, was arrested on June 23 by Middletown Patrolman John Mele on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court date.
Ryan Marks, 29, from Port Monmouth Road in Keansburg, was arrested on June 25 by Middletown Detective Albert Scott on charges of credit card theft and theft. He was released after posting $7,500 bail.
Christian Nietschke, 20, from Church Lane in Middletown, was arrested on June 25 by Middletown Patrolman Nicholas Haines on charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was released after posting $10,000 bail.
Michael Smith, 37, from Morehouse Road in New Egypt, was arrested on June 28 by Middletown Patrolman Adam Colfer on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, obstructing the administration of law, hindering apprehension, resisting arrest, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and on contempt of court warrants issued by the North Hanover and Plumsted Municipal Courts. He was held on $15,000 bail.
In Aberdeen, a Fordham Drive resident reported on June 29 that someone threw eggs at her house and damaged her lawn. Officer Michael Plant took the report.
In Aberdeen, a Church Street resident reported on June 25 receiving a phone call from someone purporting to be from the Federal Trade Commission informing her she had won a cash prize and telling her to send a check to cover processing fees. Officer Roger Peter responded.
Around 2:30 a.m., June 30, Manalapan Officer Kyle Earley observed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked in the Knob Hill Development on St. Andrews Place. Upon further investigation, Kevin Shnaider, 18, of Manalapan, a 17-year-old Manalapan boy, 17-year-old Manalapan girl and a 16-year-old Marlboro boy were found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. All four subjects were arrested, transported to headquarters where they were processed. Shnaider was released on a summons to appear in Manalapan Township Municipal Court. The three juveniles were released to their legal guardians pending Monmouth County Family Court. Officer Kyle Earley handled the case.
At 12:40 a.m., July 4, Manalpan police responded to Oxford Road for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire. A 52-year-old Manalapan man was treated for smoke inhalation and he was transported to CentraState Hospital for treatment. A 50-year-old Manalapan woman was treated for smoke inhalation, but was released at the scene by first aid. A Gordon’s Corner firefighter sustained a burn while fighting the fire and was released at the scene after being assessed by first aid. One dog and two cats perished in the fire. Monmouth County/Manalapan Township Fire Marshal Rick Hogan investigated the incident and determined the fire was accidental and not suspicious in nature. The Gordon’s Corner Fire Department, Millhurst Fire Department, Englishtown Fire Department, Robbinsville Fire Department, East Freehold Fire Department, Englishtown Manalapan First Aid Squad, NJ Natural Gas, and JCP&L responded and assisted on the scene. This incident was investigated by Officer Joseph DeFilippis and Detective Dominic Donatelli.
