Moore's Tavern & Sports Bar in Freehold

Two centuries old inn serves up familiar and comforting fare.

Trying to figure out where to meet an old friend for drinks? Need a place to watch the game with some buddies? Just want to kick back with a drink and enjoy some live music? Moore's Tavern has you covered with a restaurant, bar, 14 flat screen HD televisions and live music three nights a week.

First opened in Freehold in 1787 as an inn, Moore's was completely renovated and modernized in 2009. Moore's Tavern dishes up traditional tavern fare but also specializes in comfort foods like meatloaf, shepherd's pie and pulled pork.  They offer an extensive beer and wine list.

The dining room is open every day until 10 p.m; the bar stays until 1 a.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Catch $2.25 domestic pints and half-price appetizers weekdays from 3  - 6 p.m., and weekends from 1 -  5 p.m.

Favorite dishes include the combination platter, roasted red pepper Hummus, Buffalo chicken dip with nachos, the Tavern Stacker sandwich with  chicken pot pie, Margherita pizza pie, Hickory Smoked Baby Back Ribs and Chicken Caesar Wrap.

Moore's Tavern is featuring live music this weekend (and every weekend).  Temporary Grace performs on Friday from 10 p.m.- 1:30 a.m., and Saturday features Moondoggie, also from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
