'My baby got shot!' Video Captures Gun Battle That Wounded Girl Watching T.V.
Authorities: Video captured cop-suspect gun battle that left girl with a head wound, prompting her mother to yell, "My baby got shot!"

A surveillance video reportedly shows that a N.J. man fired the first shot in a gun battle with a cop that wounded an 8-year-old girl, according to authorities.
But whose bullet hit an 8-year-old girl while she was watching T.V.?
Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni told The Asbury Park Press and other media that he’s trying to determine whose bullet hit the girl; he declined to release the video yet, but did not rule it out.

The acting prosecutor defended the officer’s choice to return fire shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Springwood Avenue and Avenue A in Asbury Park. The suspect, Dante Allen, 20, who was also shot, faces the following charges: attempted murder, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the report.
Family members identified the suspect and said he was walking to a deli when the gun battle happened, according to News12 New Jersey. Family members said the man was unarmed at the time, according to the report.

The police officer who fired back, Patrolman Terrence McGhee, and is now on paid leave pending the investigation, was patrolling the area in his car when he stopped Allen. During the patdown by McGhee, Allen fled on foot west on Springwood, then turned and fired at McGhee, who fired back at Allen, according to the APP report.
Around that time, the girl was shot, with the bullet grazing her head. She was treated at a nearby hospital and released. “I heard the mom crying,” Kyraun Wilson, who lives across the street, told The Press. “She said, ‘My baby got shot.’”
