Name That Snowplow: See Winners Of Monmouth County’s 3rd Annual Contest

Fifth-graders from across the county were invited to submit their snowplow names and tips for staying safe during a snowstorm.

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — This winter, you can keep an eye out for two special snowplows, which were recently named as part of Monmouth County’s third-annual Snowplow Naming Contest.

“Snow Crusher,” submitted by Alyssa Bodnar of Swimming River Elementary School in Tinton Falls, and “The Frost Responder,” submitted by Savannah Miller of Memorial School in Union Beach, were the winning names chosen for two county snowplows.

The contest was open to all fifth-grade students throughout the county, with submissions accepted throughout December.

In addition to a snowplow name, contestants were also asked to submit a letter explaining their name for the snowplow and how to stay safe during a snowstorm.

“My fellow Commissioners and I congratulate Alyssa and Savannah on their winning submissions to our Snowplow Naming Contest,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering.

After Bodnar and Miller won the contest, Director Arnone made a surprise visit to each of their elementary schools to honor the students for their submissions and unveil the snowplows to them, which feature their winning name and school.

Each student also received a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners.

“I want to thank all of the students, teachers, and school districts throughout Monmouth County for their participation in the 2025 contest,” Arnone said. “When plows come around this winter, make sure to keep an eye out on the roads for ‘Snow Crusher’ and ‘The Frost Responder.’”
