New Play Space, Accessibility Upgrades Slated For Allocco Park
A $200,000 open space grant from the county will be used for a "new, all-inclusive, and accessible playground" at this Holmdel park.

HOLMDEL, NJ - Holmdel Township was recently selected as a recipient of the Monmouth County Open Space Grant Program, receiving a $200,000 grant to develop a new, all-inclusive, and accessible playground at Allocco Park on Middle Road, according to a news release from the township's monthly newsletter.
Holmdel is seeking to improve existing play areas by replacing older equipment and redesigning and resurfacing play space. The park’s entryways and picnic amenities are slated to be restored alongside beautification projects within the park's interior.
“We…continue to think locally about how we can improve daily life for Holmdel residents. In 2020 especially, we saw the importance of open space and available outdoor recreation,” Mayor Buontempo said in his reorganization speech earlier this month.

In the 2020 round of the County ’ s Municipal Open Space Grant Program, the County awarded $3.47 million in dedicated park improvement grant funds to 23 municipalities.
The county funds up to 50 percent of eligible project costs, and Holmdel is set to provide the remaining balance to complete the project.
