Open Space Tax Increase– Why You Should Vote ‘Yes’

We need additional funds to buy & preserve open space

In 2021, the Holmdel Township collected $1,091,386 in open space taxes. The 2021 budget shows that we have allocated $725,796 to pay off our existing open space debt service cost and the remaining $365K was allocated to the maintenance of those properties. This leaves us with a balance of a mere $589 in our open space fund!

If we are for open space and if we aspire to prevent over development, we need to buy other parcels of open land so we can preserve them. We cannot do this without this additional tax revenue.

If you truly care about preserving open space, but question the tax increase, look at the attached budget information on our open space fund.
