Overdosed Parkway Driver Revived By Holmdel Police, Authorities Say

Holmdel police found the driver of a car that struck a Garden State Parkway embankment unresponsive and administered Narcan, CPR.

HOLMDEL, NJ— A driver on the Garden State Parkway in Holmdel who left the road and struck an embankment was revived with Narcan by Holmdel police, police said.

Holmdel Police spotted a car that had left the northbound travel lanes of the Garden State Parkway and struck an embankment between the local and express lanes overpasses on South Holland Road on Thursday night, June 23, at 7:45 p.m., police said in a news release.

Holmdel officers found the driver unresponsive with shallow breathing, with evidence of narcotic use, police said.

Officers immediately administered a dose of Narcan. A short time later the driver stopped breathing and Holmdel Officers began CPR and administered a second dose of Narcan, the news release said.

Officers continued CPR and the driver began breathing on his own and became responsive, they said.

The driver received further treatment by Holmdel First Aid and Hackensack Meridian paramedics and was transported to Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing by the New Jersey State Police, the news release said. No identifications were released.
