Perna Dance Center prepares for their 26th Annual Production - "QUIET ON THE SET"

It's been an AMAZING year for The Perna Dance Center and as we prepare for our annual production during our last 3 weeks of classes, it's incredible what we've accomplished!

Most recently, this past weekend, 60 of our students joined forces with other local dance schools to celebrate #NationalDanceWeek at the #BelmarBeachMob in Belmar, NJ.  We took over one entire block to perform a routine using the music from Disney's Teen Beach Movie. Despite the rain and cooler temperatures, our Dancers had a fabulous time.  We even had some of our Alumni dancers out there with us!  To find out more about National Dance Week and the Belmar Dance Mob, you can follow Belmar Dance Mob on Facebook.  We will definitely be doing it again next year with even bigger and better festivities!  We've also been invited to perform our "Surf's Up" routine at Relay for Life in Hazlet on Saturday May 31st.  We look forward to being a part of this event so much that our Junior and Senior Dancers have formed a team - "Perna Goes Purple!"

Along with everyone in the Monmouth County, we endured some hard winter days and had to cancel many classes to ensure the safety our "Littles" and our "Bigs" who have their driver's licences.  To make up for these missed classes as we do not allow for "make ups" after March 15th, our Teachers will have a SPECIAL SCHEDULE to make up your classes and invite our Dancers to try out a new class or subject.  The dates our classes will be run are Tuesday June 10th, Wednesday June 11th and Thursday June 12th.  Schedules to follow.

We are immensely proud of our Irish Troupe that made a return to the community this year.  We took our Riverdance inspired performance to Lincoln Center in March and could not have been more proud and impressed with their performance.  We were the only tap performance that afternoon and we truly wowed the audience.  We also took our entire Irish Troupe to participate in the Keyport St Patrick's Day Parade.  It was so much fun and we hope we can do it again next year!

That same weekend, our dancers went back in to New York City and had a master class with the Radio City Rockettes!  With a 2 hour class and a question and answer period, our Dancers were introduced to the hard work it takes to be a Rockette.  It was an amazing experience and something we'd love to do again.

As we enter into the month of May, we've already had our studio photos taken and had a successful and well organized Ticket Day.  We're fine tuning our routines and are so excited to put on another fantastic show for our friends, family and dance community.  Rehearsals for our Opening and Closing numbers have started and as always, promise to be show stopping!  Our Parent Novelty rehearsals begin this Friday May 9th night.  We invite any of our parents to join us to be part of the shows.  There are only 4 rehearsals and you must commit to all 4 performances in June.

So, with all that has gone on just in the winter/spring alone, many may wonder if we actually have time to rehearse and put together a Recital! Of course we do!  This will be our 26th Annual Production and our theme is "QUIET ON THE SET" as we work our way around a Studio Backlot.  Our Dancers have fantastic costumes and cannot wait to perform on Saturday June 7th at 1 pm and 7 pm and again on Sunday June 8th at 1 pm and 7 pm all at Raritan High School.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Perna Dance Center main desk and tickets will also be available at the door the day of the performances.

Thank you so much for all your support and involvement.  We invite those who are interested in our summer camps and fall registration to call the studio directly at 732 787 0727 and we will add you to our mailing lists.  We also invite you to follow us on Facebook.com/ThePernaDanceCenter for daily updates and information.  We've started a Twitter page @pernadancecntr and an Instagram page @pernadancecenter so be sure to "follow" us on those social media groups.
