The second caller confirmed the validity of the border patrol call and advised the victim to provide any information requested by the border patrol.

“Please do not provide any personal information to unknown callers over the phone. The Actor in this case used a technique called spoofing a phone number, to make the call from Holmdel Police seem legitimate,” police said.

If you receive such a call, please hang up, do not provide any information or money, and contact the Holmdel Police Department.
