New Bridge Added To Popular Freehold Fishing Spot
The long-awaited bridge over the Lake Topanemus dam will be set tomorrow morning, according to Freehold Borough officials.

FREEHOLD, NJ – A popular fishing spot in Freehold will finally receive a bridge to connect the banks of the Lake Topanemus dam, according to officials from the borough. The bridge will solve a longstanding problem, as locals must currently walk in the roadway to access an area of the lake popular with fisherman.
The Borough of Freehold will be setting the long-awaited bridge over the Lake Topanemus dam tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. via crane. The fishing destination is located on Pond Road, just East of Waterworks Road in Freehold Township (while the park is owned by the Borough of Freehold, the site is located in Freehold Township).
The bridge was built in Alabama and was transported to New Jersey in one piece, according to officials.
The initiative was approved as part of the borough’s participatory budgeting process, in which citizens of the borough vote on projects they want to see funded. Every year, the Borough of Freehold receives proposals from the community, which are then voted on by locals.
