Porsche-Driving Suspects In Holmdel Thefts Speed Out Of Town

On Labor Day, Holmdel police spotted a Porsche SUV suspected in car thefts and burglaries, but had to stop the high-speed pursuit.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A township Police Department supervisor had to make the decision to stop the pursuit of a Porsche SUV after the driver, a suspect in area car thefts and burglaries, started fleeing at over 90 mph in residential areas of the town on Monday.

Early Labor Day morning, a Holmdel police officer spotted a gray Porsche SUV that was suspected of being involved in attempted car thefts and burglaries, police said in a news release.

The officer attempted to stop the SUV, but the driver took off at high speeds.

As the officer pursued the SUV headed towards the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey State Police and surrounding police departments were notified, police said.

During the pursuit, the SUV was traveling at speeds of more than 90 mph on residential streets throughout the south side of town.

Because of the high risk to the community with these speeds - and in compliance with the New Jersey Attorney General's Vehicular Pursuit Policy, the pursuit was stopped by a police supervisor, police said.

The SUV was last seen traveling northbound on the Garden State Parkway.
