Resident Scares Away Burglars With Security Alarm In Holmdel
Suspects in a black BMW SUV broke into a Palmetto Court garage Thursday but fled to the Garden State Parkway after an alarm was activated.
HOLMDEL, NJ — Three would-be burglars broke into a garage at a Palmetto Court residence on Thursday morning at 1:30 a.m., but the homeowner's security alarm scared them away, police said.
Police responded to the report of a burglary in progress and reported that three suspects, riding in a black BMW SUV with New York license plates, entered the home's garage after throwing a rock through a window. The homeowner activated an audible alarm and the suspects fled the residence, police said.
Responding police spotted the suspects driving at a high rate of speed to get on the Garden State Parkway North where they continued at well over 100 MPH, police said.

Police ask that residents continue to report any suspicious activity to police.
As in other municipalities, Holmdel has seen regular attempted car thefts, most of which are not successful. Police always advise that apart from locking your car and taking the car keys, to lock all entry doors to your home.
