Rutgers Equine Science Center's Summer Showcase To Be Held Wednesday.
The event will include a horse-on-a-high-speed-treadmill demonstration. It will be held on the Cook campus of Rutgers University.

The Rutgers Equine Science Center’s Summer Showcase will be held Wednesday.
The annual event is free, family-friendly and will include “the always popular, horse-on-a-high-speed-treadmill demonstration.”
“Although treadmilling isn’t a regular part of a horse’s fitness regimen, the activity makes important contributions to research,’’ a news release from Rutgers said. “Physiological similarities between humans and horses allow for broad implications of equine exercise physiology research in relation to aging and performance.”

The event will also include tours of the Exercise Physiology Laboratory, which houses $2 million in the latest equipment, and a horsey scavenger hunt.
“As it pertains to research and academics, the undergraduate and graduate students who have participated in our programs have gained valuable experience, yielding a highly successful rate of acceptance into veterinary and graduate programs,’’ Karyn Malinowski, professor and the director of Equine Science Center, said in a prepared statement. “And through the Developing Future Leaders for the Equine Industry course, we are producing students with skills needed to ensure the sustainability of the horse industry.”
