Shorter Isolation, Quarantine Times At Hazlet Schools Begin Soon
The Hazlet School District will implement updated protocols for COVID-19 including new guidelines for those who have tested positive.
HAZLET, NJ —Effective Jan. 18, the Hazlet School District will implement updated protocols for COVID-19 including new guidelines for those who have tested positive.
These updated guidelines are in line with the New Jersey Department of Health's latest recommendations.
Those who test positive for COVID-19 and are experiencing symptoms, or those with symptoms and who are waiting for a test, should stay home and isolate for five days. If symptoms are gone, individuals can return to school or work. If the symptoms are still there after five days, continue to isolate until fever or other symptoms improve. A negative test is not required to return to school.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have symptoms must stay home and isolate for five days. If no symptoms develop, these indivuduals can come back after that five-day period. If symptoms develop within a week of the positive test, the five-day period begins again from the day the symptoms started. At all times, mask wearing is required for another 5 days for those who test positive or are quarantined due to exposure. A negative Covid-19 test is not required to return to school/work.
Those who were in contact with a COVID-positive person will be notified by the school nurse. Vaccinated individuals do not have to stay home from school or work. Also, if an individual has tested positive in the last 90 days and has no current symptoms, they shall be considered “vaccinated” for those 90 days for purposes of this protocol.

Unvaccinated individuals should stay home for five days to self-quarantine.
Students and staff may get tested privately at home and report their results to the school nurse.
Hazlet School District will "continue to monitor in-house data, CDC updates, along with Monmouth County DOH recommendations and adjust protocols accordingly."
