Hazlet Township, NJ - Heavy smoke was reported at about 8 a.m. Tuesday morning at the St. John's United Methodist Church on Florence Avenue, and Hazlet firefighters responded.
However, when they got there, they found no fire nor did they find what was causing the smoke, a Hazlet police dispatcher told Patch. According to reports, the smoke may have been caused by a faulty heating unit.
The nursery school at St. John's was closed Tuesday, so no children were in the building. The church declined to comment when Patch called.
