UPDATED: 1 Stabbed At Middle Road Residence, Suspect Apprehended

A male victim was found with multiple stab wounds in the area of Middle Road early Monday morning, authorities said.

HAZLET, NJ - A male victim was found with multiple stab wounds in the area of Middle Road early Monday morning, authorities said.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Hazlet police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Middle Road for a report of a stabbing victim at approximately 1:38 a.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 56-year-old male victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the neck and arm.

The man was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed as in stable condition.

The suspect, Hazlet resident Julian Colacicco, 30, "surrendered peacefully" and was taken into custody at the residence on Middle Road, Hazlet polce wrote in a statement Monday evening. Colacicco was charged with first degree attempted murder and third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) pending a court date.

"Hazlet Township Police Department Chief Ted Wittke wishes to assure local residents that this incident was quickly determined to be an isolated incident and there was never a direct threat to the community while the investigation was taking place," the department wrote.
