Stolen Car Speeds Around Holmdel, Middletown Areas
Police: A car stolen from Bergen County made its way to Holmdel and Middletown Friday before fleeing recklessly back up the Parkway.
HOLMDEL, NJ — Another incident involving a stolen car took place in Holmdel on Friday.
In this case, a car reported stolen from Woodcliff Lake in Bergen County ended up on Hastings Road in Holmdel on Friday morning, police reported.
The car was a blue 2021 BMW 850i convertible, with New York license plates CPE1986.

The car didn't remain at Hastings Road, police who arrived at the scene discovered.
A short time later the car was reported to be on White Oak Ridge Road in Middletown, the police report said.

A Holmdel police officer responding to the new location saw that the car was now driving recklessly through traffic on Red Hill Road.
It then entered the Garden State Parkway northbound at excessive speeds, police said.
The Holmdel officer was unable to catch up to the car, and it was eventually pursued by the New Jersey State Police, the report said.
There was no further information immediately available from state police Sunday night regarding the outcome of that chase.
The incident is one of a series of car thefts or attempted car thefts in Monmouth County that usually involve getaway cars being driven recklessly on local roads then driving at high speeds - at times 100 mph - on the Garden State Parkway.
Holmdel township is planning to invest in stationary license plate readers to spot any flagged stolen cars driving through town, giving police a better chance to apprehend them.
The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office recently added six more officers to the Monmouth/Ocean County Auto Theft Task Force.
