HOLMDEL, NJ — A Holmdel man was found near the North Jersey Coast railroad tracks behind the ShopRite Wednesday afternoon, with several deep cuts to his neck and wrist, in what police say was a suicide attempt.
The man's wife called 911 to report that her husband was missing, and was suicidal, at around 4:30 p.m. this past Wednesday, Nov. 14. At almost the same time, a woman on Wind Hill Way called police to report an unoccupied suspicious vehicle at the end of her cul-de-sac. The responding officer observed this was the missing man's car.
Officers established a perimeter in the wooded area to attempt to find him. The man was located by Sgt. Charles Groder on the New Jersey Transit North Jersey Coast railroad tracks behind the Cosmetic Essence Incorporated/Saker ShopRite. The man was cooperative with police, but sadly he had sustained severe, deep lacerations to the left side of his neck and left wrist, which police say were self-inflicted.
