These Holmdel High Students Place At DelVal Science Fair

The following Holmdel High students were successful at the Delaware Valley Science Fair, taking first, second and third place:

HOLMDEL, NJ — The following Holmdel High students were successful at the Delaware Valley Science Fair, taking first, second and third place, as well as some honorable mentions. And a special congratulations to Holmdel High junior Benjamin Lin, who was also named a silver medalist for all categories of 11th graders.

Lin will be honored as a finalist of the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair
(ISEF) with a finalist medal and certificate.

Lin is also one of five competitors to be offered a partial scholarship from Drexel University. Drexel University is a major sponsor of the science fair, held yearly in Philadelphia.

The students are all part of the Honors Advanced Research class taught by Dr. Josephine Blaha at Holmdel High School. They have been involved in sophisticated STEM research projects that advanced to the Delaware Valley Science Fair after they were selected as winning entries in the regional Jersey Shore Science Fair (JSSF) in March 2020. Mrs. Megan Cantwell is also a mentor.

  •  Justin Zhang - Third Place, Computer Science
  •  Aidan Choo, Second Place - Mathematics

  • Rick Hsu, Lauren Lepore and Evelyn Toscarelli - Honorable Mention, Behavioral and Social Sciences
  • Bill Zhang - Second Place
