Three Holmdel Students Place In Congressional Art Competition
The contest winner was Nicole Damiano, a Wall High School junior. Her winning painting will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
HOLMDEL, NJ — Three local Holmdel teens placed in the 2020 Congressional Art Competition, an annual competition and art show for high school students in the Fourth Congressional District. It's part of the nationwide competition organized by the Congressional Institute.
The art contest was open to all high school students who live in the Fourth Congressional District.
The winner of the contest was Nicole Damiano, a junior at Wall High School, and her winning painting will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol Building.

- Best in Show- “School of Complements,” watercolor by Nicole Damiano, Grade 11, Wall High School
The three Holmdel teens who placed are:
- Third Place Runner-up - "Grey Engine" oil painting by Max Guo, of Holmdel, Grade 10, High Tech High
- Honorable Mention- "Son" in pencil, by Cynthia Zhang, Grade 11 Holmdel High School
- Honorable Mention- "Dreamer" mixed media by Jacqueline Shem, Grade 9, Holmdel High School
Each winner was informed last week, and will receive a ribbon and a certificate. All entrants will receive a congressional certificate recognizing their works.
