Thrilling Raritan Victory Over Lincoln, 28-26

Stunning win with 10 seconds on the clock!

There were a lot of high school football games Saturday. But the Raritan Rocket’s win over Lincoln (Jersey City) was arguably the most exciting. Raritan (6-5) stunned Lincoln (11-0) with a win, 28-26.

Raritan won with a fourth-down touchdown — thrown by junior quarterback Marc Carnivale to senior receiver Nick Pasquin — with 10 seconds on the clock, resulting in a mass on-field celebration and Raritan head coach Anthony Petruzzi crying tears of joy. People are calling it one of the most historic wins in the history of Raritan’s football program. And all those sirens you heard Saturday night was the championship-winning Raritan team going through Hazlet on Middle Road.

On a side note, here’s a great article about some of the Lincoln players, and what it’s like to grow up in some of Jersey City’s roughest neighborhoods, with football as your only hope out.
