Truck Gets Wedged Under Laurel Avenue Bridge
The driver was arrested in Holmdel after she was found to have an outstanding criminal warrant.
Holmdel, NJ - Two people were arrested after a tractor trailer struck the NJ Transit train bridge on Laurel Avenue Tuesday night, Holmdel police said.
The driver of the tractor trailer was arrested after she was found to have an outstanding criminal warrant out of Newark, and then later, a man was arrested for DWI after Holmdel police said he almost hit a police officer directing traffic at the crash scene.
The tractor trailer, which was traveling east on Laurel Ave., struck the bridge at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, and was wedged underneath it. The crash caused the entire roof to peel off the trailer, and both the front and sides of the trailer detached. Debris from the crash spread across the entire road and Laurel Ave. was closed in both directions for three hours Tuesday night.
