Two Brothers Charged With Assault After Weekend Fight In Holmdel
The two men, who briefly fled the house they were at in a golf cart, are facing charges after another man was injured in the fight.
HOLMDEL, NJ — Two brothers have been charged with assault in connection with a fight that took place on Roberts Road in the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 20, police said.
The brothers, Yair and Esteban Rufino, were arrested by police after fleeing the scene of the fight in a golf cart that crashed on the property and then fleeing on foot, the police said in a news release on the the police Facebook site. Police did not indicate their ages or specific residence in the post.
On Aug. 20 at about 3:30 am, police responded to Roberts Road for a report of a fight involving several men. Police found one man who suffered superficial lacerations to the chest from an edged weapon, bite marks to the back and bruising to the face. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Police said that, according to witnesses, two people assaulted the male victim and fled the area in a golf cart that later crashed on the Roberts Road property. They then continued to flee on foot. Both suspects were later caught by police and identified as brothers, Yair Rufino and Esteban Rufino, police said in the news release.
Yair Rufino was charged with simple assault by Holmdel police and released. Esteban Rufino was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses and, after processing by local police, was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.
