Military Display 'Honor Hazlet Heroes' Returns This Year

The popular military banner program will be revived to commemorate Memorial Day.

HAZLET, NJ — Veterans Park will soon be nicely decorated with patriotic banners honoring Hazlet township men and women who are actively serving in the military, have served honorably, and have given their lives in service.

In 2021, 75 patriotic display banners were hung in Veterans Park and Green Acres Drive to commemorate Memorial Day, and they will be flown again this year.

The names of those who served in the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines (WWII), or Women Air Force Service Pilots are listed on each banner (WWII).

“They are all members of the Hazlet family, past and present, and we are proud to salute them. The banners will remain in place through Veterans Day,” said township officials.

Veterans Park is located at 1776 Union Avenue. It is accessible from Union Avenue and also Middle Road, via Green Acres Drive. The township is still accepting applications for new banners until April 30.
