The man was a Sgt. Major in the Army and served in Korea and Vietnam. He was looking for the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Saturday.

HOLMDEL, NJ — On Saturday, Veterans Day, Holmdel police helped this U.S. military veteran locate the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

"Patrolman Michael Michalski came across a lost motorist who was attempting to locate the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial," Holmdel police said. When the police officer noticed the various Army insignia on the man's car and started talking to him, he learned the older gentleman was a Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army and served tours in Korea and Vietnam.

Patrolman Michalski then decided to accompany the man to his destination at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, for their Veterans Day ceremony and services on Saturday morning. "Command Sergeant Major, we thank you for your dedication and service to our great country," wrote Holmdel police on Facebook.
