Hero Servicemen To Be Honored In Hazlet Street Sign Project
On Saturday, the township and VFW representatives will dedicate street signs named for Hazlet military members who died in the line of duty.

HAZLET, NJ — Hazlet servicemen who died in the line of duty are not being forgotten here.
The township will honor their memories with street signs placed on certain street poles in town as a way to make the public aware of their contributions and ultimate sacrifice.
On Sat., Sept, 17, Township Committeeman Skip McKay will visit these places with members of the VFW Post 4303 and family members of the honorees to dedicate the signs. The public is invited to attend. The township will publish a schedule of the visits later this week on the township website.

Conti said McKay was one of the first Navy SEALs from Hazlet and is very active in veterans affairs, such as the Honor Hazlet Heroes banners at Veterans Park.
"Other towns have done this and the idea is catching on," said Conti, who said he is very pleased this remembrance of the servicemen's sacrifices will be installed for all residents to see.
The Department of Public Works staff is installing the signs near the homes of the service member who died.
