Who's Running For Hazlet Township Committee In 2020?
Democrat Morgan Pulcine is challenging Republican incumbent Michael Sachs for a seat on the Hazlet Township Committee.
HAZLET, NJ — In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, who can forget 2020 is an election year? And it's not just at the presidential level, as President Trump seeks to secure a second term.
In Hazlet, there is one seat open on the Township Committee this November: Republican Michael Sachs seeks to retain the seat he was appointed to take over from Sue Kiley, after she left to become a Monmouth County Freeholder.
Sachs has served on the Hazlet Twp. Committee for many years prior to this, and was even Hazlet's mayor and deputy mayor in the past. He's served on Hazlet’s Zoning Board, Planning Board and its Unified Land Use Board. 2019 marked his return to local politics, and this November, he will ask voters to keep him in office.

He will be challenged by Democrat Morgan Pulcine, a 22-year resident of Hazlet who raised her three children here.
"During that time I have become involved in our community and learned the needs of our families in Hazlet," Pulcine told Patch. "My husband and I raised our three children here and we have been active volunteers with our schools, HYAL, and Raritan Rocket Launchers. Our two boys graduated from Raritan High School and our daughter will be a sophomore this September. I love our community and I believe I can make a difference for Hazlet families and homeowners."

She added:
"I believe it is time to have a Democrat, as well as a second woman, on our Township Committee because I believe our Township Committee should reflect the demographics of our town to a reasonable level."
Sachs did not return a request from Patch to comment.
The primary election has been pushed back to July 7. But the primary is not contested in Hazlet as there is one Democrat and one Republican running. The general election is in November.
