Why I'm Voting for Mayor Brian Foster and Deputy Mayor Kim LaMountain

As your former Mayor and current Township Committeeman, I know Brian and Kim are the right choice for Holmdel.

It’s campaign season again here in Holmdel, so – if you haven’t already – you’ll be getting bombarded with text messages, emails, social media posts, mailers, and phone calls.

Some of you may already have an idea of who you’re voting for, others may not even know who’s running (that’s ok – you will!).

When I think about who to vote for, I believe two things are paramount – leadership and facts.

I’ve been serving alongside Mayor Brian Foster and Deputy Mayor Kim LaMountain for several years now. I’ve seen firsthand their commitment to our town, our culture, our taxpayers, and our children. When I served as both Deputy Mayor and Mayor, I relied on their counsel and insight – now, as a Committeeman, I’m proud to see what great leaders they’ve become in our community.

In less than 3 months, Brian and Kim have finalized the agreement to prevent development on the venerable Potters Farm, signed an historic $600,000 agreement with the Board of Education to support our students, and delivered FREE supplemental EMS support to our residents that has the full support of Holmdel EMS leadership.

In addition to their instant impact as Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Brian and Kim have been integral to our success the past two years in which we’ve delivered for Holmdel on all fronts …

  • Fiscal Responsibility: overcame the near catastrophic spending and debt increases initiated by past leaders (who also happen to be Brian and Kim’s opponents), dramatically slowed spending, and ensured we’d still deliver for our residents while maintaining a 0% tax rate increase.
  • Open Space: reversed course on that same prior leader’s plans to put a condo development where The Holmdel Horn Antenna sits and preserve that property in what is now known as Robert Wilson Park.
  • Public Safety: hired more police officers, improved fire safety ratings, invested heavily in new facilities, equipment, and resources for all First Responders.
  • School Support: repaired the contentious relationship those prior leaders had with the Board of Education to build an unprecedented support structure for the lifeblood of our town – our students.
  • Infrastructure: procured millions of dollars in state funding to improve and expand Crawford’s Corner Road and developed the plan to finally remediate stormwater issues in town.
  • Recreation: delivered new Pickleball, Basketball, and Tennis Courts exclusively to Holmdel residents, introduced new recreation programs for all ages, renovated facilities at the Holmdel Senior Center.

Bill Parcells once said, “you are what your record says you are”. To-date, Brian and Kim’s record has been one of unmitigated success in service to our town.

Which actually reminds me – their opponents were vocal advocates for changing Holmdel’s form of government less than 3 years ago, arguing that we had to have a new structure to appropriately govern Holmdel.

Turns out, we didn’t need a new government at all – we just needed new leadership!

Let’s keep moving FORWARD.

Let’s ensure ideas and action rule the day.

Let’s vote in favor of public service, not politics.

Let’s join together and vote for Mayor Brian Foster and Deputy Mayor Kim LaMountain – the candidates that put Holmdel First.
