I have a wishlist for Holmdel and its remaining developable parcels. First let me state, I am not interested in paving paradise or, on the other end of the spectrum, obstructing entitled development. I would also love to see uses that are economically sustainable. I would like to see healthy development.
It seems that as a consumer I have to leave Holmdel daily. No, I am not asking for a mall, outlet mall, or Walmart. I leave for recreation.
I go to Middletown for swim lessons, bouncing, auto mechanic...
Wall for golf lessons
Fair Haven for a barber
Manasquan for swimming
Colts Neck for a spray park
Marlboro for riding lessons
Freehold for the YMCA
Eatontown for a bounce house
Red Bank for classical music
Colts Neck for cooking classes
Hazlet for the gym
Matawan for tennis
Everywhere except Holmdel for restaurants. Red Bank, Keyport, Rumson, ...
Hazlet for Pizza
Red Bank for Sushi
Middletown for Indian
Keyport for a pub
Colts Neck for fruit (Dearborn in Holmdel for meat!)
With the wealth and consumer base in Holmdel, why can't I stay local, spend my money here and help my town?
I shop at Lowes over Home Depot because it is in town. That is a drop in the bucket.
So, wishlist time:
I wish Holmdel had:
- A Bounce U
- Sushi Restaurant
- Steak House
- BBQ
- Barber
- Health Club with a pool
- Indoor Tennis
- Golf Course
- Riding Lessons
- Swim School
- Whole Foods
- Good clothes shopping like the Grove
- YMCA
- Modern Medical Arts suites for doctors and specialists (Beers St facilities are aged and should be replaced)
I would like to go to open air concerts in town on Thursday or Friday evenings, have a bite to eat, listen to some music and see my community.
...and where do I go see fireworks in this town?
What would you like to have in Holmdel?
