Woman Steals Dead Person's Credit Card in Keyport, Police Say

A woman by the same name was arrested in March for stealing checks when she worked as a front-desk receptionist at Holmdel Orthodontics.

Keyport, NJ - A Keyport woman has been charged with stealing the credit card from someone who recently died and using it to buy $770 worth of gift cards at the local Stop & Shop.

The alleged theft happened Sept. 10, 2015, prosecutors say, but Gina Lena, 32, was just arrested this week. On Sept. 10, she removed not only a Citi Bank credit card from a home on Beers Street — where someone had just died — but she also walked out with more than $3,800 in jewelry from the home that day, as well, police said.

She sold the jewelry at Gold Buying Services in Hazlet, police said. Lena was caught on video camera at both the Stop & Shop and the pawn shop, police said.

A Gina Lena by the same name, and age, was arrested earlier this year for allegedly stealing checks from her employer when she worked as a front-desk receptionist at Holmdel Orthodontics. Lena was indicted in March of this year for stealing her boss' checkbook, and writing about $25,000 worth of checks to herself and her friends, Monmouth County prosecutors said. The orthodontist, Dr. Sezer Olcay, talked to Patch about that incident.
