You Can Now Drop Off Unwanted Medicine at Hazlet Police Station
A box was set up Tuesday: Drop off unused prescription medications anonymously and with no questions asked.

Hazlet, NJ - A drop box was installed Tuesday at the Hazlet Township police station, where residents can safely dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications. The box is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and you can drop off unused prescription medications anonymously and with no questions asked.
"The Hazlet Police Department is participating in this great program that lets our residents safely dispose of their unwanted medications," said Lt. Ted Wittke. "When it comes to battling the opiate drug epidemic that’s gripping our communities, it cannot be accomplished solely by enforcement measures. Project Medicine Drop lets the community play an active role."
Prevention First of Monmouth County helped fund the cost of the box, which is almost $1,000. The drop box also protects New Jersey’s environment by keeping drugs out of landfills and out of the water supply.
