HOPATCONG, NJ — The Morris County 250th Anniversary Celebrations Committee, in partnership with the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, will celebrate America's 250th birthday with a free day of patriotic at Lake Hopatcong this weekend.
Festivities will be held on Saturday, July 11 and begins at 11 a.m. and include a Patriotic Boat Parade, an All Fleet Sail, a Paddler Flotilla, live music and family-friendly entertainment.
Boaters are encouraged to decorate their vessels in red, white and blue for the Patriotic Boat Parade, which departs from Nolan's Point at 11 a.m., with participants gathering in Great Cove at 10:45 a.m.
Sailboats will depart from Bertrand Island to Halsey Island at 11:30 a.m., gathering in front of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club at 11:15 a.m.
Kayakers, canoeists and paddleboarders can join the Paddler Flotilla, which gathers on the north side of Lakeside Village at noon.
The event is free and open to residents and visitors as part of Morris County's commemoration of the nation's 250th anniversary.
