Sussex County To Conduct Aerial Mosquito Spraying In Hopatcong

Residents with questions may contact the Sussex County Office of Mosquito Control.

HOPATCONG, NJ — The Sussex County Office of Mosquito Control will conduct aerial mosquito larviciding on Friday, July 31, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. to help control mosquito populations in their aquatic larval stage.

Applications will target uninhabited wetland areas and will not be conducted over residential neighborhoods.

The treatment will use Vectobac GS, a biological larvicide containing Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTI), which is designed to control immature mosquitoes.

Officials emphasized that the application is not a liquid or aerosol spray.

Municipalities included in the treatment area are Andover Township, Hampton Township, Hardyston Township, Hopatcong Borough, Lafayette Township, Newton, Sussex Borough, Vernon Township, and Wantage Township.
